Note to all: This is a draft. Please edit as needed. URLs need to be inserted into two places. Also, I couldn't recall how many hours we all felt was appropriate to award for one conference session, including the responses people have to make. I took a stab at it and said 5 hours, but this is certainly up for debate and a collective decision.

Re: Continuing Professional Development or Inservice Credit for Conference Participants
Numerous educators participating in the K-12 Online Conference 2007 wish to receive some form of credit to acknowledge their work and professional advancement through the event. The organizers of the conference have prepared this communication to assist school administrators in making determinations regarding how such credit might be applied in one’s particular situation.
The K-12 Online Conference 2007 is a free, international, online event for educators around the globe. Presenters are selected by a panel of distinguished technology educators from the U.S. and several other nations. All conference staff and presenters volunteer their time free of charge. The purpose of the conference is to advance the use of leading-edge educational technology in the cause of high-quality K-12 teaching and learning, worldwide.
This year, more than 40 presentations will occur live, online from October 8-27. The presentations will then be archived online for easy access, on demand. The conference, and all related information, is located at: http://k12onlineconference.org/. Last year’s first K-12 Online Conference drew more than 50,000 attendees and its presentations remain online for viewing and learning.
Each presentation at the Conference is a 1-hour, multi-media lecture. Conceptually speaking, this means that they are a variation on narrated PowerPoint presentations, although many presentations include video and other forms of media.
Participants seeking credit are required by conference organizers to respond to a specific series of questions related to what they have learned from each session and how they will utilize or apply what they have learned in their individual work setting. Participants are offered a variety of methods for meeting this requirement. Full information regarding the questions and the processes to be followed may be found online at: (INSERT URL HERE).
Participants who engage in 1 conference session and fulfill the response requirements perform, in our opinion, an average of 2 clock hours of work. Once fulfilling these obligations, they may download a certificate containing their name, the title and date of the session, and some additional information about the conference.
It is up to participants to determine what they do with their certificates. We encourage participants to confer with their administrators regarding the acceptability of our certificates for any purpose, prior to their actually committing time and turning in the documents. As an administrator of your local educational organization, the decision is yours regarding acceptance of these certificates for any purpose and you may, of course, modify our, or substitute your organization’s own, requirements for credit.
We will maintain a list of schools and educational organizations that accept our certificates. Others include the following:
*Instructional Technology Services, San Antonio ISD - http://itls.saisd.net
*El Paso ISD - http://episd.org
This communication relates only to continuing professional or inservice credit. Separate arrangements are in place for graduate credit for participants in the K-12 Online Conference 2007 through Plymouth State University, Plymouth, New Hampshire, USA. Thank you.
I COPIED / MOVED THIS OVER TO http://k12onlinecredit.wikispaces.com/expectations - which will be our public wiki site for PD and graduate credit. Please edit over there. - Wesley
